Photos are worth a thousand words.

I remember how I tired I was.  I remember how tiny her hands and feet were.  I remember the clothes she was wearing.  Those days that seemed so long and so short at the same time are some of the best days.
I also remember how I always wanted to be taking photos of her...all the time.  Like I just wanted to document every tenth of an inch that she had grown!  As tired as I was, I always seemed to find energy to take one more picture.
If you are still at that stage, wanting to document every little movement, every little smile or that special way he looks at you, here are 3 easy to implement tips that will make your photos even better.    And if you too, want to be part of and be in the photos (because one day you will realize you are hardly in any of them), contact me and we can plan your next photo session.

If you are indoors, instead of using the flash on your camera (or phone), open up the blinds or move closer to a light source.  Using a flash can make the image look flat and it washes out color.    All of the following tips are things to consider if you are planning the photo , not for candid photos, obviously....because when a candid moment comes up, well, there is no time to go and change the clothes or open up mini blinds  :)

I love color, patterns and prints. Having too much of any of them can be distracting and take away from the main focus, your baby.  If the onsie had stripes, for example, then you want to keep the background and surrounding areas with solid colors. So remove other                                                                        patterns or prints.

Getting at different levels can give you different perspectives.
  1. Try shooting on your knees
  2. Standing on top of a stool for example.
  3. At eye level with baby or toddler
  4. Take some vertical and some horizontal photos.

Take lots and lots of photos.
  1. The beauty about digital cameras is that you can take 20 and then go back to keeping only your best ones and having space to shoot more.  The more photos you take, the chances are better of having taken the perfect one!
